About You
We want candidates who are dedicated and enthusiastic, because this programme is all about getting your career back on track. We understand how difficult it is to get a job without experience – and how difficult it is to get experience without a job! Track & Train aims to put this right.
So, given the nature of the programme and the variety of placements you will be completing, you should be able to demonstrate the following behaviours:
- An ability to work well within a team – you will be based in teams, so as a new member you’ll be expected to make a valuable contribution.
- Resilience and the confidence to work well in a changing environment – one placement may not be the same as the next and you may need to come out of your comfort zone at times to really get the benefit of a new experience.
- An understanding of good customer service – what it is and also how to deliver – you will be placed in customer facing roles and understanding this is vital as customer service is essential to the rail industry.
You must also be happy to work in an operational environment like a train station or depot, and you must be comfortable working shifts (including weekends).
While there is no guarantee of a job at the end of this programme, it’s important to remember that it may open doors to get your career started, it will help you make professional contacts, and it may help you focus on a specific career path.
